Based on the psychedelic X-Men character, Hawley turned the tale of Professor Xavier’s estranged son into a real head trip through the mutant’s powerful but unstable mind. The show’s third and final season just wrapped up.Given Legion’s success, it’s no wonder Fox had plans to unleash Hawley on the movie side of their Marvel universe. The creator has apparently already finished a script for a film based on Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four nemesis and one of the greatest Marvel villains period. However, now that the Disney/Fox merger has gone through, don’t hold your breath for Hawley’s Doctor Doom movie.“Where it stands is now that the movie is done,” Hawley said in an interview with Deadline. “I need to circle back to them and announce that I would love to make it and figure out if that’s something that is possible. Whether or not they already have a plan in place for what to do with those characters or whether they’re open to my kind of vision for what to do with those characters. But it’s sort of on me right now to go push them.”Given that Disney seemed open to continuing some of Fox’s Marvel projects, like the super successful Deadpool series, we thought Hawley’s Doctor Doom might have stood a chance. It’s just such an exciting idea. However, after Kevin Feige specifically mentioned the Fantastic Four joining the MCU at SDCC a few weeks ago, we’re guessing they have their own plans for the Latverian dictator.Doctor Doom is an incredible character, so whenever he does show up again on movie screens we just hope it’s from creative talent that can really do him justice. Please let him team up with Doctor Strange to free his mom from Hell.
