NO ANSWERS OVER FUTURE OF IRISH, SAYS SENATOR

first_imgSenator Brian O Domhnaill has reacted with dissapointment following a debate on the Irish Language in the Seanad today.Speaking from Leinster House this evening O Domhnaill said: “Many questions pertaining to the protection of critical Irish Language Organisations and Services remain in limbo following little clarification in today’s debate.“No detailed information was given by the Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs on when the Gaeltacht Bill will be published or when a new replacement organisation to MFG Teo will be in place or whether or not the severe cuts to Gaeltacht Schools will be reversed.” Some of the questions the Government must answer include, he says, are: Why is the Gaeltacht Bill being delayed Why is the Government slow in setting up a new Gaeltacht LEADER Partnership Company – Gaeltacht Areas are losing out. Is Údarás na Gaeltacht being scaled back Will the Government reverse the decision to end democratic elections to the board of Údarás na Gaeltachta. Will funding be provided for Gaeltacht infrastructure Will the Education cuts and implications for School Gaeltacht Schools be reversed. When will a CEO be appointed for Údarás na Gaeltachta together with a Regional Manager in Donegal Why has nothing been done in a year to implement the 20 Year Irish Language Strategy Will the Government reverse the devastating decision to amalgamate the Office of the Irish Language Commissioner with the Ombudsman  18ú Eanáir 2012 Cuireann Ó Domhnaill in iúl gó mbeidh diospóireacht ar an Ghaeilge agus an Ghaeltacht sa tSeanaid inniú  Cen fath a bhfuil moill a chuir ar fhiosrú an Bille Gaeltacht Cen fath nach bhfuil Comhlacht Pairtnearacht in áit Meitheal Forbartha na Gaeltachta Teo (MFG) – Agus an Gaeltacht ag caileadh de bharr. An bhfuil Údarás na Gaeilge a scaladh arís An cuirfidh an Rialtas deireadh leis an plean gan an toghainn daonlacha a bheith chun comhaltaí a thogh. Cen uair a mbeidh Príomh Fheidhmeanadh nua a cheapú do Údarás gó maith le Bainiseoir Reigúinach ó thuaidh An bheidh deontaisí ar fail í mbliana do infrastructúir Gaeltachta Scoileanna Beaga Gaeltachta Cen fath nach bhfuil aon rud tarlaithe le beagna bliain ar cuir í bhfeidhm Stratéis 20 Blian don Ghaeilge An mbeidh an Rialta sastá an cinneadh deireadh a chui le neamhsplachás oifig an Coimisinéir Teanga a athrú. NO ANSWERS OVER FUTURE OF IRISH, SAYS SENATOR was last modified: January 18th, 2012 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more

LOVE IS IN THE AIR IN COONEY’S HOME AND GARDEN!

first_imgA love-struck parrot’s plan to flee its home backfired on him – when he became lovesick. The parrots are back together again. The red rumped parrot escaped its cage at the newly-opened Cooney’s Home and Garden store in Letterkenny.Staff tried all sorts of tricks to catch the colourful bird including a huge net! But the parrot managed to evade staff roosting in the eves of the store.Shoppers were left looking skywards as the noisy parrot flew overhead in the store. But owner of the store Gary Cooney revealed it was love which eventually brought the parrot back down to earth.“We tried all sorts including some lovely food but nothing would work. The bird was flying all around the shop much to the amusement of shoppers. “We knew we had to catch it and we were afraid it might escape out of the store and we didn’t want that,” he said.A plan was eventually hatched to close the store overnight but to leave the bird’s cage open overnight.Mr Cooney thought his plan had backfired when the female parrot also fled the cage. But love worked in mysterious ways when the pair soon fled back to their cage for a cosy reunion!Mr Cooney added “It proves that males, even male parrots, can’t last very long without their partners. “We’re just delighted they’re back together and we’re going to be more careful in future when opening the cages.”The brand new Cooney’s Home and Garden store in Letterkenny.LOVE IS IN THE AIR IN COONEY’S HOME AND GARDEN! was last modified: November 5th, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Cooney’s Home and Garden storeescapedletterkennyparrotlast_img read more
