Artem Chigvintsev’s Dating History

first_imgQuite the journey. Artem Chigvintsev is now in a happy relationship with Nikki Bella — the engaged couple welcomed their first child together, a son, in July 2020. However, the professional dancer dated others in the spotlight before settling down. The Russia native, who was part of Burn the Floor and Strictly Come Dancing before joining Dancing With the Stars, has been romantically linked to many dancers over the years. While not all his exes are still part of his life, one has a big impact on his weekly schedule.- Advertisement – Carrie Ann Inaba, who is currently a judge on the ABC competition series, was in a relationship with Chigvintsev for two and a half years between 2006 and 2009. She hasn’t given him any special treatment over the years though. In fact, during season 29 of the show, fans on social media speculated that she was being tough on him and partner Kaitlyn Bristowe because of their past.Bella also joked about the Hawaii native’s history with her now-fiancé in 2019, noting that if the judge’s save was part of the season they competed on together, maybe they would have “lasted longer” than they did.- Advertisement – “I think Carrie Ann totally would have saved us. And not because you guys dated … but she really liked my technique,” the Total Bellas star said during Entertainment Tonight at the time. During the live show, the dancer immediately began blushing and covered his face.Despite their past relationships, Bella and Chigvintsev are in a great place.“Artem treats Nikki like a queen. He’s such a great guy and madly in love with her,” an insider told Us Weekly exclusively in June 2020. “She’s his dream girl, and she is super sweet to him. Their friends love them as a couple.”- Advertisement – Scroll through the gallery below to see who else Chigvintsev has dated — and who he married — through the years. – Advertisement –last_img read more

Stacey Abrams draws credit and praise as Biden inches ahead in Georgia.

first_imgStacey Abrams, who earlier this year was on a short list of potential vice-presidential candidates, was ultimately not chosen by Joseph R. Biden Jr. But on Friday, as Mr. Biden took a narrow lead in Georgia, it was Ms. Abrams who was celebrated, a sign of her remarkable ascent as a power broker since her failed bid for governor of that state two years ago.Celebrities, activists and voters across Georgia credited Ms. Abrams with moving past her loss — she came within 55,000 votes of the governor’s mansion — and building a well-funded network of organizations that highlighted voter suppression in the state and inspired an estimated 800,000 residents to register to vote.- Advertisement – Still, Democrats in the state were jubilant.- Advertisement – “You have to build the infrastructure to organize and motivate your base, and you have to persuade people,” said Jason Carter, a Democrat who was the party’s candidate for governor in 2014. “Stacey built that infrastructure, and Donald Trump’s presidency energized that infrastructure, and it opened up voters to persuasion who were previously not open, particularly in the suburbs.”Mr. Biden pulled ahead of President Trump in Georgia, a state that has not elected a Democratic presidential candidate in nearly three decades, and maintained a slight lead throughout Friday. He was up about 4,100 votes Friday evening with more than 98 percent of the ballots counted. Because of the small margin, the secretary of state confirmed there would be a recount. Ms. Abrams declined to comment on Friday. But in a tweet, she wrote, “My heart is full.” And she cited the work of other activists. “Georgia, let’s shout out those who’ve been in the trenches and deserve the plaudits for change.”If Mr. Biden holds onto his slim lead in Georgia, her profile is likely to grow. – Advertisement –last_img read more

Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot on ‘Covid fatigue,’ stay-at-home advisory

first_imgChicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot told CNBC on Friday that she understands people are growing weary of coronavirus restrictions, but she urged the city’s residents to comply with her stay-at-home advisory in order to prevent additional deaths from Covid-19.A day earlier, Lightfoot issued a 30-day advisory for the country’s third-largest city, which asks residents to leave their homes only for work, school and essential trips such as seeking medical care and grocery shopping, for example. It also called on people to avoid having guests in their homes and avoid traveling, especially for Thanksgiving. The city also imposed restrictions to limit gatherings to 10 people. Both announcements go into effect Monday.- Advertisement – Illinois on Thursday set a record for average daily cases, with 11,829, according to a CNBC analysis of Johns Hopkins University data. That is up roughly 55% compared with a week ago. Illinois is one of 30 states that currently have a record-high average of daily cases. In Chicago, its rolling case average is just over 2,000 per day, which is up 40% compared with a week ago, according to the city’s website. Its seven-day average of positive tests — a key indicator of whether a local outbreak is intensifying — is now 14.5%. A week earlier, it was 11.1%.Illinois’ seven-day average of Covid-19 hospitalizations is 4,585, per CNBC’s analysis of data from the COVID Tracking Project, which is run by journalists at The Atlantic. While that is not an all-time high, hospitalizations are up 32% compared with a week prior.- Advertisement – – Advertisement – “Really, the most startling piece of information that motivated us to issue this advisory and the other components is, if we do nothing between now and the end of the year, we’re likely to lose 1,000 Chicagoans to death,” Lightfoot said Friday on “Closing Bell.” “That’s not acceptable.”Lightfoot’s advisory comes as state and local officials across the United States take steps to ramp up public health restrictions in response to the country’s worsening Covid-19 outbreak. Public health experts have warned the epidemic will only get worse without interventions to slow transmission.“We’re saying to folks, ‘Look, we know you’ve got Covid fatigue. We know that you’re tired of the different restrictions, but we must do this for you, for your family, for your loved ones and the entire city of Chicago,’” Lightfoot said.- Advertisement – Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is so far “doing OK” at managing hospital capacity during the current uptick and can take on more Covid-19 patients, its CEO, Dr. Omar Lateef, told CNBC earlier Friday. However, Lateef cautioned that health-care systems can become overwhelmed “so rapidly and so dramatically,” a problem being experienced in some parts of the United States such as Utah.“For today, we feel good. We have capacity. We have the ability to surge,” Lateef said on “Squawk on the Street.” “We have the ability to increase beds as our community dictates, and we have the experience of the past to make sure that we’re ready to do that.”If coronavirus transmission in Chicago does not slow, Lightfoot said, additional measures may have to be taken. “We may have to get to a point where we do a stay-at-home order as opposed to an advisory,” she said. “But psychologically … that’s a big step for folks. They’re tired. They’re angry. They’re frustrated, so we’re hoping we can educate them into compliance.”She stressed the importance of avoiding indoor congregate settings, where the virus can transmit more easily.“Where we’re seeing a lot of our case growth is in these private settings. People let their guards down at homes. They’re going to weddings and funerals, and they’re also still having parties,” Lightfoot said. “Now, don’t get me wrong, we’re seeing it really across the board everywhere, but these private settings is really the toughest thing to regulate.”— CNBC’s Nate Rattner contributed to this report.last_img read more

Trolls World Tour Release Date in India Set for November 19

first_imgTrolls World Tour release date in India has been announced. The sequel to Trolls will release Thursday, November 19, in cinemas across the country in English and Hindi, over seven months since its premiere in the US due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Universal Pictures took a game-changing approach to Trolls World Tour’s global release back in April, putting the film in cinemas and on digital rental platforms on the same day. That didn’t include India, what with cinemas shut nationwide and negligible existence of the pay-per-view market here. With theatres now reopened across most of India — Maharashtra, with the largest number of screens, did so a couple of weeks back — Universal Pictures India thinks it’s a good time to release Trolls World Tour. The animated musical has been available for pre-order on DVD and Blu-ray for the longest time, but it seems that wait will continue with Trolls World Tour now headed to the big screen. Of course, if you don’t feel comfortable stepping out and into a closed environment with strangers, Trolls World Tour is available digitally outside India.- Advertisement – Alongside, Universal Pictures India has released new trailers for Trolls World Tour in English and Hindi.Trolls World Tour English trailerTrolls World Tour Hindi trailer- Advertisement – Trolls World Tour opens November 19 in English and Hindi in theatres across India. Dohrn is also the director.Trolls World Tour was received less positively than the original, with a 70 percent rating on reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Made on an estimated budget of around $100 million (about Rs. 745 crores), Trolls World Tour grossed $37.9 million (about Rs. 280 crores) in theatres worldwide, and around $150 million (about Rs. 1,115 crores) from digital rentals, according to IndieWire. Here’s the official synopsis for Trolls World Tour, from Universal Pictures:In an adventure that will take them well beyond what they’ve known before, Poppy (Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake) discover that they are but one of six different Troll tribes scattered over six different lands and devoted to six different kinds of music: Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop and Rock. Their world is about to get a lot bigger and a whole lot louder.A member of hard-rock royalty, Queen Barb (Bloom), aided by her father King Thrash (Osbourne), wants to destroy all other kinds of music to let rock reign supreme. With the fate of the world at stake, Poppy and Branch, along with their friends — Biggie (Corden), Chenille (Hjelt), Satin (Jawo), Cooper (Funches) and Guy Diamond (Nayyar) — set out to visit all the other lands to unify the Trolls in harmony against Barb, who’s looking to upstage them all.- Advertisement – – Advertisement –last_img read more

Japan has H5N2 avian flu outbreak

first_imgJun 27, 2005 (CIDRAP News) – A Japanese farm is expected to cull most of its 25,000 chickens to prevent the spread of a highly pathogenic avian influenza, identified as A H5N2, that has killed about 800 chickens, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported today. The H5N2 strain has not been known to cause any human illness cases, unlike H5N1, which has infected more than 100 people and killed 54 in Southeast Asia since late 2003. But a Dow Jones Newswire story said officials were conducting health examinations of poultry workers in the affected area. The Japanese government ordered another 16 nearby farms in Ibaraki prefecture to suspend transportation of chickens and eggs, AFP reported.”We must contain the situation as swiftly as possible to be able to declare an end to it,” Ibaraki Gov. Masaru Hashimoto was quoted as saying in the AFP story. The outbreak apparently began in April, AFP reported. The H5N2 strain of avian flu has been responsible for highly pathogenic outbreaks in Pennsylvania (1983-85), Mexico (1994-95), Italy (1997), Texas (2004), and South Africa (2004), according to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) report “Assessing the Pandemic Threat.”Japan had four outbreaks of avian flu in 2004, all involving the H5N1 virus, Dow Jones noted.Elsewhere, Indonesia is changing tactics in its ongoing fight against the H5N1 virus, the minister for agriculture, Anton Apriyantono, told Dow Jones Newswire. The country will shift from its controversial approach of killing only visibly ill birds and vaccinating others to culling all poultry in outbreak zones, Apriyantono told Dow Jones.”I’ve asked my staff to not only do vaccinations . . . but also stamp out [H5N1 outbreaks] and strengthen bio-security,” Apriyantono told the news service. “If there’s an outbreak, to kill all the birds is better . . . within a certain radius.”Indonesia’s policy change comes soon after the country found its first human case of H5N1, in a poultry worker who was not sick but carried antibodies to the virus. The country’s response, however, may be hindered by economics. Farmers have resisted the government’s culling approach because they deem the compensation for lost birds inadequate, Dow Jones reported.”Sometimes the farmers refuse and say, ‘If you kill my birds, what am I going to do?’ The government doesn’t have enough money to compensate them,” Apriyantono said.See also:WHO report “Assessing the Pandemic Threat” read more

WHO says climate change will spur diseases

first_imgApr 7, 2008 (CIDRAP News) – The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) predicted today that climate change will increase disease outbreaks by a variety of mechanisms and threaten human health in other ways.”The core concern is succinctly stated: climate change endangers health in fundamental ways,” WHO Director-General Margaret Chan said in a statement timed to observe World Health Day.”The warming of the planet will be gradual, but the effects of extreme weather events—more storms, floods, droughts, and heat waves—will be abrupt and acutely felt,” Chan said. “Both trends can affect some of the most fundamental determinants of health: air, water, food, shelter, and freedom from disease.”In outlining major health consequences of global warming, Chan said droughts and floods will increase the burden of diarrheal disease, while changes in the ranges of disease-carrying insects will spread illnesses like dengue fever and malaria.”Both scarcities of water, which is essential for hygiene, and excess water due to more frequent and torrential rainfall will increase the burden of diarrheal disease, which is spread through contaminated food and water,” she said. She added that diarrheal diseases cause about 1.8 million deaths each year.Further, Chan said, “Changing temperatures and patterns of rainfall are expected to alter the geographical distribution of insect vectors that spread infectious diseases. Of these diseases, malaria and dengue are of greatest public health concern.”In a news release accompanying Chan’s statement, the WHO cited some examples of diseases affected by, or likely to be affected by, global warming:Major outbreaks of Rift Valley fever in Africa are usually associated with rains, which are expected to become more frequent as the climate changes. In the east African highlands, warmer temperatures in the last 30 years have created more favorable conditions for mosquito populations and therefore for the spread of malaria.Cholera epidemics in Bangladesh are closely linked to flooding and unsafe water.Chan also said global warming threatens public health by reducing crop yields, leading to food shortages, and directly causing deaths and injuries through storms, floods, and heat waves. She left no room for doubt about the role of humans in global warming: “The scientific evidence continues to mount. The climate is changing, the effects are already being felt, and human activities are a principal cause.”The reality of climate change is no longer in doubt, but there’s still time to reduce the consequences for human health, Chan said. The WHO and its partners—the United Nations Environment Programme, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and the UN World Meteorological Organization—are devising a research agenda to get better estimates of the scale and nature of the threat to health and to identify strategies for health protection, according to the news release.”Better systems for surveillance and forecasting, and stronger basic health services, can offer health protection,” the WHO said.See also: Statement by Margaret Chan 7 WHO news release WHO information on climate change  Jan 10 CIDRAP News story “Federal officials warn of dengue threat to the US”last_img read more
